One of the most popular outdoor activities in Mendocino County is Dungeness crab fishing. The crabbing season in Mendocino opens in November and continues through June. This long season offers many opportunities to get on the water and catch some great trophies!

Without a doubt, the most popular area for crabbing near Mendocino is in Fort Bragg. In that area, you can try your hand at the sport at MacKerricher State ParkGlass Beach, and Noyo Harbor. 

Mendocino Crabbing Licenses 

It’s important to note that a sport fishing license is required for anyone attempting to take fish, mollusks, crustaceans, invertebrates, amphibians, or reptiles in inland or ocean waters Mendocino County. California anglers can get their licenses online from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife website. Certain veterans and disabled anglers may qualify for reduced-cost or free licenses.
