Festival-of-TreesWhile the holidays might be a few months away, now is the time to start planning what you might do with your time off. We at Sea Rock Inn love having visitors during any part of the year, but we really enjoy it during the holidays. This is a time to show others how we in Mendocino County celebrate the holidays and other ways that make us unique. There are many festivals that take place to get everyone in the holiday spirit here in Mendocino County and one in particular that is fun for all ages is the Festival of Trees. Let’s have a look at what the Festival of Trees is as well as what to expect when you attend.

The Festival of Trees is held at Gualala Arts Center in Gualala. This area is about an hour south of us in Mendocino and you will get a beautiful ride on Highway 1 to get there. The Festival of Trees will be held this year on Thanksgiving weekend, Friday, November 27th from 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday, November 28th from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission is free to the Festival of Trees and not only does this festival help kick off the holiday season in our area but also is a fundraiser.

The Gualala Arts Center is a fun place to experience the arts in Mendocino County. The Gualala Arts Center is dedicated to enriching the lives of those in Mendocino and Sonoma Counties with art in many ways. Not only do they host art exhibits and the like they also provide a place for those with similar interests to meet. Some examples of groups that meet are Clay Arts, Art Edibles, Pacific Piecemakers Quilt Guild, and more. Besides the Gualala Arts Center, they also have another gallery, the Dolphin Gallery which can be found in downtown Gualala.

Let’s move on to the Festival of Trees. When you enter, you will be taken back in time to a 19th century Gualala, to a simpler time in life. The history of it all will be amazing and you will get to see demonstrations as well as handcrafted wares in booths.
