There are some general facts about the Mendocino Headlands State Park that are quite helpful for visitors to know. To start, the Mendocino Headlands State Park surrounds Mendocino on three sides. This makes it not only a very large park but also an interesting one as well because of all of the different types of terrain throughout. Another great fact is that it is completely free to explore. Lastly, this is day park only. Therefore, there is no camping allowed.

While you browse, learn about what life was like here in the beginning of the Redwood foresting days. The circa 1854 home will offer you a broad selection of items on display. They go all the way back to the days when the Pomo Native Americans lived in the area.
Big River Beach
Lastly, one of the best parts of the Mendocino Headlands State Park is Big River Beach. You can access this favorite beach by car or by trail.
