Here 5 of the Most Adventurous Mendocino Mountain Biking Trails

California affords locals and travelers alike a unique opportunity: the ability to enjoy the outdoors almost year round. Because of this, there has been an outpouring of conservation over the years so everyone can enjoy outdoor activities. We at Sea Rock Inn love the Mendocino area and enjoy sharing tips and ideas for things to do while you are here. One outdoor activity we share a lot is taking a trip on one of our Mendocino mountain biking trails. If that sounds up your alley, then let’s take a look at some of the best places to go mountain biking in Mendocino.

Introducing the Most Excellent Mendocino Mountain Biking Trails

  1. Fort Bragg Coastal Trail– If you are looking for a bit of an easy ride but also along the coast, then you must have a look at the Fort Bragg Coastal Trail. It was just finished in the last year and residents love walking or biking along the coast any chance they get. It is close to MacKerricher State Park as well as Glass Beach. These two attractions can be a great place to go after a ride on the trail.
  2. Jackson State Forest– Besides the coast, we are well known for having some incredible redwood forests in our area as well. Jackson State Forest is one of eight demonstration forests in the area and is located close to us in Fort Bragg. They have multiple trails and each are designed to teach you a bit about the area, the forest, the ecology, the history, and much more. On many of the trails you will be able to go mountain biking, just be sure to grab a map from their office before you head out.
  3. Mendocino National Forest– If you are truly looking to get away for a day of Mendocino mountain biking then we recommend the Mendocino National Forest. There are over 900,000 acres for you to enjoy in various ways. Many people enjoy not only biking but hiking there as well. At the Mendocino National Forest, there are groomed and un-groomed trails giving you a truly outdoor experience. One word of advice is to make sure to plan out your trip well and understand where you are going and be prepared for it.
  4. Big River State Park– Going back to our Mendocino mountain biking trails on the coast is the Big River State Park. This is attached to Mendocino Headlands State Park. The trail follows the river and can give you a wonderful and beautiful ride. The trail is several miles long and at different points you will get to see an abandoned quarry, animals, and more. If you are looking for more of an adventure then have a look at their side trails as well.
