What to Do During Summer in Mendocino
During June, July, and August, average temperatures along the Mendocino Coast usually stay around 60 degrees. That means it never really gets cold, and it never really gets hot. The opportunities for fun-filled experiences are endless!
1. Head to Fort Bragg for the Day

Just north of Mendocino, you’ll find the charming town of Fort Bragg. This area is home to scenic shores with glass stone beaches, MacKerricher State Park, the Skunk Train, and more.
2. Go Hiking in Russian Gulch State Park
The Fern Canyon and Falls Loop Trail are moderately strenuous and offer views of a breathtaking waterfall, Redwoods, and lush forests and flowers.
3. Explore Mendocino Headlands State Park
If you want to see outstanding Pacific Ocean views, head to Mendocino Headlands State Park. You can walk along trails and spend the day on Big River Beach.
4. Enjoy Watersports on Big River
Hit the water with a canoe, kayak, or paddleboard and explore Big River. This waterway is about 8 miles long and is always relatively calm.
5. Visit the Point Cabrillo Light Station
The California coast is filled with many historic lighthouses and Point Cabrillo Light Station is located right here in Mendocino. You can do a self-guided tour and explore the First Assistant Lightkeeper’s Cottage, which is now a museum.
6. Go Wine Tasting
