Here’s Why the Symphony of the Redwoods is Worth the Visit

History of the Symphony of the Redwoods

The Symphony of the Redwoods was created in 1983. Back then, their orchestra consisted of 27 talented musicians, and today, it has more than 50! This live orchestra’s mission is to bring the Mendocino area beloved and bold classical performances. On top of their annual shows, they work year-round to promote the orchestra and help the community by organizing fundraisers and attending annual events.

Events and Concerts

Between May and September, they organize a handful of concerts that locals and visitors alike enjoy. Would you like to be one of them? Their performances include classical works by renowned composers like Bach, Mozart, and even Tchaikovsky. The shows are divided between two locations: The Opus venue at Preston Hall in Mendocino, and the Symphony Venue at the Fort Bragg Cotton Auditorium. The calendars vary depending on the location, so make sure you look at the correct venue before buying your tickets!

Make a Whole Date Out of It!

One of the best ways to enjoy a night at the Symphony of the Redwoods is to make a whole date out of it with your significant other. Wear a nice suit or dress and head to a romantic restaurant before the show! If you’re attending a show at the Fort Bragg location, we recommend getting a table at Silver’s at the Wharf. It’s the ideal location for sipping cocktails while gazing at the stunning ocean. If you’re attending an Opus concert at Preston Hall, choose from one of Mendocino’s restaurants. We love to recommend Café Beaujolais — their French-inspired dishes are always so mouthwatering!
