Discover California Wine at Toulouse Vineyards
The rustic and charming Toulouse Vineyards makes for a great day trip from Mendocino. Spend the day learning about Pinot Noir, tasting wine, and soaking up the scenery surrounding you.
Visit Toulouse Vineyards
The story of Toulouse Vineyards started in 1997, when owner and winemaker Vern Boltz found a beautiful 160-acre property overlooking the Navarro River. Anderson Valley’s climate is ideal for the production of Pinot Noir, which is what Toulouse Vineyards focuses on. The temperature in the summertime varies between the high 90s and low 50s, and the ocean breeze helps to refresh the grapes, keeping them sweet and acidic.
At Toulouse Vineyards, all of the wine is produced and bottled right onsite. The tasting room welcomes visitors daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. No appointment is needed, and the tasting fee is just $5 per person.
Sustainable Growing and Winemaking
Toulouse Vineyard makes it a priority to grow their vines in a sustainable way, and that includes using ecological practices and organic products. The company utilizes natural fertilizers like compost and fish emulsion. Plus, the whole vineyard is mechanically weeded, and minimal water is used to grow the grapes. This type of low-impact farming goes hand in hand with their long-term vision of eco-friendly winemaking.
Each year, Toulouse Vineyards participates in the highly anticipated Winesong Festival. The event takes place in Mendocino and features different types of California Pinot Noir from several winemakers. It’s a fantastic opportunity to taste a variety of flavors and learn more about the region.
